From 1991-1995, Doug was a research scientist with the
National Research Council's Institute for Biological Sciences in Ottawa,
followed by two years as a Program Manager in the UVic Division of Continuing
Studies. Between 1999-2007, Doug was Vice-President of UVic's Innovation and
Development Corporation (IDC) where he supervised the commercialization of
university R&D and the formation of university-industry partnerships, along
with overseeing IDC operations, budgets and revenue generation and reporting.
