Together we CanAssist.

TechWork

At CanAssist, we recognize that an important factor in workplace retention and return-to-work strategies for people with disabilities is the need for customized technologies. Such technologies are designed to help those with disabilities retain or improve their existing employment positions, as well as to enter the workplace or return to a job following an injury. Such technologies can also play vital role in supporting people with disabilities who pursue a wide range of entrepreneurial ventures.

CanAssist's TechWork program is working to address the lack of such technologies. Clients are identified and supported through our connection with a variety of groups, including employers, third-party insurers and community-supported employment agencies, as well as through direct requests from the community.

All devices and software produced as part of our TechWork program are designed by CanAssist's highly qualified, dedicated engineers, computer programmers and researchers. TechWork builds upon CanAssist's existing customized assistive technology R&D expertise to develop technologies that enable those with disabilities to enter the workforce, retain an existing employment position or succeed as an entrepreneur.

At CanAssist, we recognize that the ability to work has great value on many levels, both for individuals and for society. TechWork is another way we are providing more people with this important opportunity.

For examples of technologies that have been developed through CanAssist's TechWork program, please see the employment section of Technologies and devices.
