CanWork

CanWork is an innovative collaboration between CanAssist and the Co-operative Education and Career Services at the University of Victoria. The pilot program supports UVic students who identify as having a disability or mental health challenge to engage in meaningful, paid, relevant work experience during their degrees.

Through the program, job coaches support students on their work sites, help them to master their task, achieve independence, and contribute to the workplace.

The CanWork program is best suited to students who are:

  • Registered as second year status and above at the University of Victoria,
  • Participating in a program with an optional professional co-op program, and
  • New to co-operative education.

For more information on how to apply to the CanWork pilot program or to find more
information on how to be involved as an employer, please visit the CanWork website.

Note: Registrations have now been filled.

Due to high demand, registration in the CanWork pilot is now full for participating students. If you are interested in building your career while at UVic, we encourage you to connect with the co-op coordinator or career educator in your program of study.
