“As a newcomer to Canada and the city of Victoria which lands on the traditional territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples, I’ve settled on the stolen land of the Esquimalt and Songhees nations - the land that now I call home. With much to learn, I respectfully acknowledge these nations, and the Songees, Esquimalt, and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day. As a resident on this land, I have an important responsibility to acknowledge the grounds on which we gather in the pursuit of higher education and serving people.”
