Request a CanAssist technology

CanAssist develops customized technologies for people of all ages and from across the disability spectrums. In order for CanAssist to take on a project, the solution must be unavailable commercially or through other providers. (However, CanAssist does modify commercial technologies when they do not meet an individual's specific needs.) Whether a request turns into a project also depends on whether the project is viable, and whether funding - from philanthropic or other sources - can be secured.

If you believe that you or someone you know could benefit from a customized technology, please select the appropriate category below:

Individuals and families

CanAssist receives limited funding from philanthropic sources each year to undertake technology projects for clients who approach us on an individual basis. Requests can be made by the client, a family member, or another person in the client's life.

OTs and other professionals

CanAssist often receives technology requests from occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists and other professionals. In these cases, technology development can often be billed to third-party agencies.

Technology for Employment

CanAssist is currently accepting applications to a new 3 year initiative funded by the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction to develop customized technologies designed to address specific barriers to successful employment.
